If you have followed this blog at all, or have seen my social media posts, I donate $1 for every mile I run to the Lucas Fund. This is a charity we have set up to raise money for the babies and families at the University of Virginia Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. I try and get the word out about the charity at any opportunity I can, since it is in honor of our first son, who passed away shortly after he was born at the UVa NICU.
A lot of runners have also helped to spread the word by either sharing our story, or by wearing a Running Dad / For Lucas shirt at races all across the country, and even in Sweden. For the upcoming Battlefield Half Marathon and Richmond Marathon, I have several runners that I have been training for the past few months running as part of “Team For Lucas”. I will also be selling “Team For Lucas” shirts as soon as I have enough made up. All proceeds will go to The Lucas Fund.
So, thank you to “Team For Lucas” for helping promote the charity and best of luck at the Battlefield Half and the Richmond Marathon!
If you are interested in a shirt, post in the comments below what size you would like. I will have a variety of colors, depending on availability. Once I have the shirts available for sale on the site, I will contact you.
