I have a weakness. Self control. I have every intention of eating healthy, but I continually find myself eating and drinking all kinds of stuff that is not good for me. I am not gaining weight, fortunately. My obsessive running takes care of that. But I repeatedly consume foods that make me feel bad afterwards.

Recently, I have been having some pain in the bottom of my right foot, in front of my heel. Or as my coach would call it, a “niggle”. After some research online, I self-diagnosed my niggle as plantar fasciitis. Don’t you love the internet? Look at me, I’m a doctor! Erring on the side of caution, I emailed my friends Dr. Doepper and Dr. Sanders at Capital Rehab of Winchester.

Marathon training require a lot of hydration. I use water and sports drinks frequently during my runs, but have never really focussed on a recovery drink for afterward. Who doesn’t like a parfait? It sounds so gourmet. Anyway, I don’t know how many calories it has but it has got to be pretty good for you. Here is the recipe.
Grab a bowl. Add some vanilla yogurt. You can go for non-fat or, even better, greek varities. Grab a handful of walnuts – either whole or pieces and shelled of course – and toss them in. Then do the same with a handful of Craisins (dried cranberries). Done.
I make this up after a run or when I don’t have much time to make a meal.
